About Nuri-tate

Nuritate, also known as Hana-nuri, Nurihanashi or Shin-nuri, is a type of lacquer applied without a waxy finish. This technique is done without applying a top coat with a brush or polishing.

In nuritate, it is necessary to apply the lacquer in an even thickness, without leaving brush marks, and without allowing knots or dust to adhere to the lacquer. For this reason, careful attention must be paid to the environment of the room and the tools used. It requires more advanced techniques than wax painting , and the unique luster and shine of nuritate appears as a result of skilled techniques.
