About Suki Urushi
Suki urushi is a type of refined lacquer, and is a transparent brown lacquer. It is a refined lacquer that is not black lacquer. It refers to the lacquer liquid that is not black among the lacquer (kuromeda lacquer) that is refined by stirring (nayashi) and dehydrating (kuromeda lacquer). It may be used as is, but suki urushi can be mixed with color pigments and kneaded to create a colored coating.
