Mariko no Ki: Reading the Spirit Original Brand Opens
Black is silence.
A flower blooms in the moonlit sky without a word or sound.
There are no flashy colors. But there is a vital energy that stirs the life of the tree. I simply read that "energy" and left it behind in the black.
Adapted from the original by Hiroshige, "Three Views of Suruga: The Mariko Tree"
When travelers who once walked the Tokaido passed under this tree, what thoughts would they have had as they looked back at their hometowns or hurried on? The raw sense of life, conflict, farewells, and longing would have been burned into their hearts.
That "energy" was there as a "wavering of the tree" that cannot be contained within the framework of the modern "100 Famous Trees."
We wanted to reawaken the spirit that had been quietly sleeping within the treasured "legged trays" and "decorative buckets" that have been treasured since our founding.
The silence of the good old days and the sophisticated technology of today.
By combining these two, we bring back to life the Mariko Tree, which has been sleeping for a long time.
A "naked" confrontation that transcends boundaries
Naked Black
The lacquer and gold leaf transfer process removes unnecessary shine and reveals a "naked jet black" that seems to swallow up the light.
The silence of Mariko-juku, one of the three most scenic spots in Suruga, floats in the silent night. The sparkle of gold and the heat of the scarlet. Read the energy of the "swaying trees" that reside there and simply enjoy it in silence.
When the boundary of the protective glass is eliminated and light and shadow strike this black surface directly, a dormant energy quietly awakens.
